Our story

Two trades, one goal: making the fight against the Asian hornet simpler

WASPP is a free platform connecting citizens, certified professionals and municipalities to report and remove Asian hornet nests.

Our mission

When you find an Asian hornet nest, you often have no idea who to call or how to react. WASPP grew out of that observation: a simple, free tool so that every report quickly leads to an intervention, everywhere in Belgium and soon in France. And every nest removed counts, because this predator attacks bees and can wipe out entire hives.

How WASPP came to be

It all starts in Stavelot. Yves Godefroid, a professional firefighter nicknamed "Monsieur Guêpe", faces the spread of the Asian hornet every day when he puts on his suit to destroy nests. An idea grew out of that field experience.

He talked it over with his best friend, Nicolas Delrez, a systems analyst-developer specialised in building websites and apps. Together, the two Stavelot natives designed WASPP: a free app for citizens, built to make reporting and removing nests accessible to everyone.
